Three children crouched inside a dugout with frightened expressions, the doorway occupied by a large dark silhouette with glowing eyes.

Children's book illustration: kids in a dugout and a haunting shadow

A moody children's illustration showing an evening scene in a dugout where kids laugh and play until an orphan warns them of a coming presence. A looming, haunting shadow fills the doorway and the children freeze mid-motion — some with mouths open, others caught mid-jump — blending innocent play with sudden dread and suspense.
