Porcelain Doll in a Dark Room — Distant Moody Portrait

A porcelain doll sits in a dark room, lit by a cold shaft of light that reveals cracks across its glazed face and vacant, lifeless eyes. Distant framing and deep shadows produce a gothic, unsettling mood; the antique dress, folded hands and textured surfaces add to the sense of abandonment. Metallic decorative accents on the costume emphasize the vintage, ominous character of the scene and amplify the feeling of mystery.
