Meet John Black-and-White, a special cat with a full name and even bigger dreams. Unlike ordinary cats who are happy catching mice and sleeping all day, John longs for ocean adventures. He reads books about faraway continents and secretly wishes to be a captain. But his life with Ben, his not-so-kind owner, is "pretty bad and heavy."
One day, John bravely decides to leave home. What follows is an exciting journey full of taxis that talk, ships that sail, storms that crash, and even a mysterious island where John makes three wonderful friends: Salada, Willi, and Jacka. There are dangerous storms, wild hunts for deer and rhinoceros, a terrifying ship fire, and even a stop in China!
